Compiled by the JRP Nihon Realism Photography Group, Nagasaki Branch, and published by the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivors Council (長崎原爆被災者協議会), this volume is a direct testimony from the survivors themselves — not mediated by outside editors or institutions, but produced by those who lived through August 9, 1945.
The photographs are raw, unflinching, and historically irreplaceable. The English subtitle — The Testimony of Nagasaki — signals the international intent of this publication: to ensure that the world could not look away.
This copy is from the 1972 reissue — but as the colophon makes clear, this was not a new printing. The 1972 edition was produced by affixing a new colophon label to remaining stock of the original 1970 first printing. The book itself is, in every physical sense, a 1970 first-edition copy. A rare and important distinction for the serious collector.
